After qualifying as a Certified Accountant, Roy spent thirty five years in the financial services industry in a wide ranging number of roles from Finance Director to Chairman of a Unit Trust Company. He also became a Freeman of the City of London. At the time of taking early retirement in 2001, Roy was Managing Director of over twenty mainland European Businesses for Aviva, the largest insurance Company in the UK.
Roy has always been passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their potential. Throughout his working career he has been involved in “hands on” charitable work with organisations having this focus.
Since his retirement he has been on the board, and international council, of a media company that broadcasts television into the Middle East and North Africa. Roy also chairs a UK-based charity that provides sheltered housing and residential care for approximately one hundred elderly people.
